Cole G. Lambert v. Volusia County Correctional Facility was a case to determine whether Volusia County was responsible for the medical treatment of a late officer.
Cole Lambert had tripped and fallen while walking up the steps to his workplace. He did not report the accident as causing any injury. Seeing as he was already suffering from multiple health conditions, his supervisor and coworkers presumed his wellness was from that and not the fall. His spouse reported that he continued to suffer falls for days following that incident before being admitted to the hospital where he later died.
Although Cole Lambert had fallen at work, the JCC determined that neither the fall nor the place of work contributed to his hospitalization and demise.
